The Album

Dior Bucket

A Beautiful Grind

The smiles on the album cover are real. It’s what happens when two lifelong friends from deep in the hood get together for the first time in years to collaborate on a fun, celebratory, progressive rap album. The result is a perfect balance of Chicago west side swagger and catchy back and forth bravado that brings out the best of both rappers. The vibe is bouncy and carefree as street themes are embraced and re-cast with occasional hilarious interplay between Bigg Baby and EQ. Lifelong camaraderie shines through on this joyous soundtrack for the crime-ridden war zone known as Chicago. The Ghetto Superstars are living proof that, even in darkness, the grind is still beautiful.

BIGG BABY

Taking a break from his 24/7 gig as head of ABG operations, Bigg Baby got back in the booth and started rapping with restrained authority and a calming wisdom he acquired as a label boss, session producer, and tour manager for some of the biggest names in modern rap. On this project, Bigg Baby reunites with his longtime out west homie and creative collaborator, Emone Quadeem. Commanding respect but never taking himself or his stature too seriously, Bigg Baby raps with joy and dignity about the daily grind of a real Ghetto Superstar.

EMONE QUADEEM

EQ has released some of the most introspective narrative rap to emerge from Chicago in years. His first project, “The Grind is Still Beautiful” and the follow up, “True to My Name” were emotionally-charged, personal revelations from an itty bitty rapper with a lot to say. Now, with much of the serious stuff off his chest, EQ reunites with Bigg Baby, his lifelong friend and collaborator, for this fun, catchy, celebration of hood life during a time when many see little to celebrate.
